Joseph Chang
Piano Instructor
Mr. Joseph Chang began his musical journey at the age of 4, where he first started taking piano lessons under the instruction of his grandmother. Since then, he has continued his study of piano and music through various academic outlets. Mr. Chang first began studying at Ohlone College, where he received his A.A. in Music for Transfer and A.A. in Human Development Studies. In 2019, Mr. Chang was also awarded as Ohlone College’s Student of the Year (Music Department). He is currently pursuing a B.M. in Music Education (Instrumental Emphasis) at San Jose State University, and studying piano under Dr. Gwendolyn Mok.
Mr. Chang has also passed ABRSM’s Piano Performance exams, from Grades 1 to 8, and ABRSM’s Music Theory exams, from Grades 1 to 6. He has also competed in the U.S. Open Music Competition(s) from 2015-16, earning 3rd place in two different Open Solo categories and in their Intermediate Sight Reading Solo Category.
Outside of music academics, Mr. Chang is also currently serving as a College Ministry Worship Director at Resonate Church (Fremont), as well as working as a Worship Leader at Pathway Community Church (Fremont). He has previously released a self-produced worship album in 2021 titled Honest Tears, Vol. 1, which is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
