Jose Deanon
Piano Instructor
Jose Deanon is a well-rounded pianist trained in piano repertoire from Bach to John Williams; Roman Catholic Liturgical Sacred Music to Filipino Bukas Palad Choral literature. Jose is also skilled in classical-jazz solo improvisation with a hobby of making piano covers of mainstream music.
At age 10, Jose studied under University of the Philippines de Manila pianist, Allier Manahan, with additional help accompanying previous church choir directors at St. Edward Catholic, Newark: Samuel Dorlaque, Madley Katarungan, and Terry Buchholz. Jose collaborated with Madley in becoming a CFC Nor-Cal 25th Anniversary Song Contest winner in 2017.
Jose attended San Jose State University graduating with a Bachelor of Music - Piano Performance in 2019. He studied with Dr. Frank Levy for applied lessons under department head, Dr. Gwendolyn Mok. While in school, Jose had a chance to accompany the SJSU Choirs led by Dr. Jeffrey Benson; and in 2016, was invited to sing in the choir ensemble for touring artist, Andrea Bocelli at SAP Center. In 2018, Jose toured the Baltic states with the collaborative choral group, Bay Area Singers.
In August 2018, Jose performed with the Sancta Cecilia Choir and awarded a Certification of Appreciation at the Handog Pasasalamat Concert at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Malate, Philippines.
Upon graduation, Jose accompanied the Ragazzi Boys Chorus for their RP Ensemble. Jose was also recruited by JackTrip Labs, originally a Stanford research project that caught the attention of world artist Eric Whitacre to pursue a collaboration in May 2021, bringing organizations like Ragazzi Boys Chorus, San Francisco Girls Chorus, & Southern California Children’s Chorus together leading to their LIVE performance in July 2021.
Jose now continues his music as a choir director at St. Edward Catholic in Newark, CA, leading a traditional Filipino choir. Jose also started his own company, JDeanon Music, in 2022.
