Eric Liu
Piano Instructor & Choral Director
Eric Liu serves as the Choral Conductor at SVCM.
He holds a Bachelors of Music Degree in Music Education, Conducting Emphasis, from San Jose State University.
Mr. Liu is a young, enthusiastic and reputable music instructor with numerous years of teaching experience instructing students of all age groups (5 year olds to adults). His student's success and happiness are the best examples of Liu's love for music and education.
He serves as the Choral Director of several renowned Bay Area Choirs and as a guest conductor for many others. Liu has been featured on KTSF26 Talk Show, World Journal, Sing Tao News and San Francisco Chronicle for his dedication to the choral community. Some of the choral groups he has conducted includes Crystal Children’s Choir, De Anza College Vintage Singers, Monta Vista High Variations, San Francisco Boys Chorus, Tzu Chi Adult Choir, OneStop Children’s Choir, Shin Shin Youth Choir and many more.
In 2013, Liu received the National Choir Directors Award—the highest honor that can be bestowed upon student choral directors. It recognizes the dedication and musical achievement of the top choral conductors. He served as a Board Member for ACDA San Jose State Chapter from 2015-2017 and is currently a member of National ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), NAFME (National Association for Music Education) and CMEA (California Music Educators Association).
Mr. Liu has worked under mentors such as Dr. Jeffrey Benson, Dr. Charlene Archibeque, Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe, Dr. Anna Hamre, Lin Bor Jen, and several others.
Liu currently runs a private studio where he teaches over 70 students weekly in Piano, Violin and Vocals. In his free time, you’ll find him hiking, playing with his Golden Retriever, or spending quality time with his family.
